INCREASING SOW PRODUCIVITY
Innovation Type - technique
Potential beneficiaries - livestock farms, farm service centers, farm stores and other interested parties.
SUMMARY / SPECIAL CHARACTERISTICS
Invention refers to administration of bio-stimulators in swine production. BioR medicine contains an extract from the Spirulina Platensis biomass and is administered intra-muscular to sows before and after farrowing. This medicinal product is made locally, has an algae origin, is organic and contributes to increasing the piglet number and weight, as well as sow’s lactating capabilities.
The new technique permits increasing the gestating sows’ productivity through increasing piglet survival rate and increasing piglet individual body weight after farrowing till weaning.
The Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry approved and recommended this method for application in swine production.
ADVANTAGES
- Increasing piglet surviving rate from 9 to 10;
- Increasing piglet body weight by 250 grams;
- Increasing the piglets’ survival rate from 87,3% to 91,9 %;
- Increasing gestating sow productivity;
- Increasing sow’s lactating capabilities;
- Ensuring a net income of Lei 5.0 per each Lei 1 invested.
