SUMMARY:

The invention refers to orthodoncy and proposes an orthodontic appliance with magnets. The existing orthodontic appliance – Frenkel’s regulator, used for the treatment of distal biting associated with protrusion of upper frontal teeth, has some disadvantages as inconvenience in usage, because of massive elements, which hinder the process of mastication and unsettle patient’s diction. This appliance can be used for children of five-six years and up only during evening or night, thus the period of treatment lasts longer.
The proposed orthodontic appliance consists of both upper and lower maxillary sides. The upper maxillary side includes the vestibular arch and the palatine strap fixed to the supporting crowns, fitted over the first molar, as well as a pair of permanent magnets installed on the distal sides of the vestibular arch. The lower maxillary side includes the lingual and vestibular arches fixed to the supporting crowns, fitted over the first molars, as well as a pair of permanent magnets fixed to the distal sides of the vestibular arch. The permanent magnets fitted over the upper and lower jaws are installed with the opposite poles one to the other, at a distance necessary to correct the distal occlusion.
The simple design of the appliance allows the patient to use it in the process of eating, talking and wear it continuously during the whole period of treatment. This accelerates the process of treating the respective pathology.
