SUMMARY:

The invention relates to the method of obtaining of 5 á furostan – 3 â, 22, 26 – triol – 3 [O- â - D – glucopyranosyl (1 2) – â - D- glucopyranosyl (1 4) – â-D- galactopyranosyl] – 26 – O - â – D – glucopyranosid (Pacoverin).
Pacoverin is successfully used for the preparation of drugs, used for the prophylaxis and treatment of virus infections, especially virus hepatitis B, C and D, herpes infections, acute infections of respiratory tract and for the correction of immune condition on immunodeficiency.

DESCRIPTION /SPECIAL CHARACTERISTICS:
Method of pacoverin obtaining includes, according to this invention, the powdering of dry tomato seeds and their treatment by boiling with n-butanol. Butanol extract is combined with the tomasoid fraction and is distilled until drying. The residue obtained is washed with the chloroform and acetone solution, is filtered, and is repeatedly washed with acetone on filter and dried.

Current stage of development - Antiviral activity of pacoverin was tested in vitro and in vivo. The preparation is registered as a drug under the name «Pacoverin». Currently the industrial manufacturing is arranged, «Farmaco» company being the manufacturer and it is used in the medical institutions of the Republic of Moldova
