How to reduce the contents in hydrogen sulphide in ground water?

Innovation Type - Product and method

Potential beneficiaries - Industries, communal enterprises

PROBLEMS CAUSED BY GROUND WATERS WITH HYDROGEN SULPHIDE:

It is demonstrated that natural ground water containing hydrogen sulphide reduce the potabilization degree and represent an agressive environment for the structures made of concrete and metal.
In contrast to the known equipment and methods applied for the removal of hydrogen sulphide from ground water, our equipment represents a monoblock. Its structure involves a bioreactor for biological treatment of ground water with their aeration. Subsequently, water is subjected to coagulation with sedimentation of biomass excess and partially, the colloidal sulphur in the same sedimentation tank.
The final clarifiation of water proceeds after the removal of colloidal sulphur on rapid filters and after the definite removal of hydrogen sulphide by chlorine treatment.

ADVANTAGES

  • Reducing of power costs abnd aeration costs, due to the ejectors used in the componence of bioreactor
  • Increase of efficiency and flexibility of biologic removal of hydrogen sulphide due to the suing of immobilized bacteria
  • Increase of clarification degree of treated water, by using of coagulation and rapid filtration
  • Decrease in chlorine consumption and total cost of water treatment
  • Offering of compact equipment (monoblock), easy to construct.

Current stage of development - Bench-scale tests

Where was applied - Implemented at ground water treatment plant in Nisporeni town

Desired collaboration - Partnership
