Method of silicic solar cells preparation

Innovation Type - Fabrication of silicon solar cells using the more simple technology than traditional

Potential beneficiaries - electronic industry enterprises, small industries specialized in electronics

EVOLUTION OF SOLAR CELLS PREPARATION

New method
In case of the proposed technology, the conversion of metal-semiconductor type is formed in a following way: thin ITO layer is deposited on siliceous plate heated to 450oC. This layer is obtained under the usual conditions by spraying of In and Sn alcohol solutions. It is transparent for solar radiation, possesses electric conductivity comparable with that of the metal and plays the role of the metal in the conversion metal-semiconductor.
Traditional method
Majority of semiconductor devices, including photovoltaic converters (solar cells), operate on the basis of conversions formed within the semi conducting material. In the traditional solar cells p-n conversion is formed under the temperature of 1300oC by Method of impurity diffusion into the siliceous plate, inserted in the reactor with special conditions.

ADVANTAGES

  • Power savings, because the high temperatures are not needed for the conversions formation within the Si plates
  • Simple method of solar cells fabrication
  • Reducing of solar cells cost
  • It is possible to apply the elaborated technology at small industries

Current stage of development - Solar silicon cells are available for demonstrations and were tested at field. There is a technical description available and operation instruction of device for the formation of conversions within the siliceous plates; the flow sheet and assembly charts were elaborated for fabrication of ITO/ Si solar cells in laboratory conditions.

Where was applied - Viability of elaborated technology was demonstrated by: testing of solar cells under the standard conditions, fabrication of solar cells in small series and assembling of solar batteries with the capacity up to 30 Wt.
